Title: LES ENFANTS DE JARDIN
|
Size: 26 W x 38 H
(unframed)
Story:
“LES ENFANTS DE JARDIN” is a portrayal of a beatial Chinese concept. It is believed that every woman is represented in the other world by a tree or flower. And that consequently, just as grafting adds to the productiveness of trees, so adopting a child is likely to encourage the growth of olive branches. Perhaps the loveable children immortalized in these embroidery fabrics have found a new home amongst the garden that surrounds them and their new family who watches over them.
Materials:
A 16th century Tibetan festival breast plate, atop late 1800’s Chinese silk embroidery, flanked with 17th century Chinese silver embroidery, topped with organza wrapped with 19th century Chinese embroidery, over an acrylic painted “garden” on watercolor paper, bordered with 17th century Japanese poetry veiled with organza.
